What to do about that Enormous Crack or Completely Broken Shaft

If you work with large equipment, you are fully aware of the damage caused by everyday wear and tear.

You have probably even dealt with broken shafts and cracks in your equipment at some point. Some repair shops only patch these types of repairs, which leads to more damage in the future. Marion Machine’s experienced crew are very familiar with repairing large and small cracks as well as shafts that have broken. When we come across a crack that needs to be repaired, we first remove the crack in its entirety. Then recondition the part to its original specifications.

Keep that downtime down with Marion

When it comes to broken shafts on Symons heads, Omnicone and HP frames, we can quickly and efficiently execute repairs with minimal downtime. We remove the broken shaft using our State-of-the-art 800-ton press. This is typically very effective in the removal process but if that does not work, we then cut the shaft out and repair the bore. At this point, the new shaft can be installed, and you can put your equipment back to work for you immediately.

Our Metso HP 800 Mainframe had a loose shaft and we re-fit the shaft back to OEM specs with a 2-week-turnaround to get a 3.5-million-ton-plant back up and running.
