Welder
Job Scope:
Fix and repair aggregate parts and equipment by determining required welding techniques for each project. Weld different types of metal-based on blueprints and specifications laid out by engineers. May assist in other kinds of maintenance.
Essential Duties:
- Fix and repair aggregate parts and equipment
- Read blueprints and engineer specifications
- Bore welding and custom fabricating
- Weld frames and fill holes in frames with welding material
- Pour Babbitt bearing material
- Clean and paint parts as needed
- Use of grinders, tape measures, and combination squares
- Operate all tools and equipment with precision dexterity
- Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
- Perform maintenance on welding equipment as needed
Secondary Duties:
- Keep work area clean
- Maintain a safe overall work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read blueprints
- Basic mathematic skills including fractions and decimals
- Knowledge of welding techniques and procedures
- Ability to take precise and accurate measurements
Education Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or equal years of experience
Experience Requirements:
One to three years of welding experience

Bending – 35% of shift
Pushing – 20% of shift
Pulling – 45% of shift
Climbing – 30% of shift
Sitting – 35% of shift
Overhead work – 0% of shift
Standing – 25% of shift
Walking – 25% of shift
Lifting to 50 pounds – 10% of shift

Work Environment:
Work takes place in a machine shop. Work is in a loud environment. Individuals must be prepared to work in hot or cold temperatures. Individuals may be exposed to fumes or chemicals such as weld smoke or grinding dust.
