Floor Manager
Job Scope:
This position will work closely with the Operations Manager and other lead personnel to manage the manufacturing department which consists of machining, welding, assembly, and painting. Requires the training of new employees, issuing of projects, tracking production metrics, and other duties.
Essential Duties:
- Assist in directing the activities of hourly workers in the manufacturing department
- Train new employees and guide them through orientation
- Monitor production in all areas to ensure compliance with schedules, quality requirements, and cost constraints
- Review, initiate, and issue projects
- Review the work backlog daily for each operation and assign work according to scheduled priorities
- Distribution of project information like paint color, delivery schedule, or special instructions
- Assist in tracking key performance metrics
- Make recommendations regarding employee discipline/recognition
- Train and teach team leaders each week
- Assist in management of timecards
- Ensure productive use of labor, equipment, and floor space
- Monitor production schedule progress
- Enforce safety rules, assist in the investigation of accidents, attend safety meetings, and assist in safety and housekeeping inspections
- Assist in the evaluation of employees
Secondary Duties:
- Maintain a safe and clean work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to use Microsoft office and other software
- Good organizational skills
Education Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or equal years of experience
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience
Physical Requirements:
Individual must be prepared for:
Reaching – 15% of shift
Bending – 20% of shift
Pushing – 10% of shift
Pulling – 10% of shift
Climbing – 5% of shift
Sitting – 40% of shift
Overhead work – 5% of shift
Standing – 60% of shift
Walking – 60% of shift
Lifting up to 50 pounds – 10% of shift

Work Environment:
Work takes place in a climate controlled office or fabrication shop. The volume in the office is usually quiet, and the volume in the fabrication shop is loud. Personal protective equipment, such as steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs/muffs, are required in the shop.
